Medical
If you become sick or injured during your mission, Missionary Medical will assist with medical expenses as long as it is not a pre-existing condition. (A pre-existing condition is an injury or sickness with signs or symptoms, a diagnosis, or treatment within two years prior to entering the mission field, regardless of whether symptoms were present when a mission was started.)
Missionary Medical does not cover any dental or vision exams or treatment.
If you are currently taking medication that you will need to continue, make arrangements for how it will be obtained and renewed before entering the mission field.
The Church is self-insured, meaning that all medical expenses come from tithing funds. If you are able to maintain health insurance for your missionary, it is important to do so. Your insurance will be billed first and then Missionary Medical. When a missionary medical expense is approved by Missionary Medical, there is also a co-payment for any doctor appointment, or any prescription which the missionary will pay.
